Kathy and Bill have been involved since the beginning
Kathy and Bill Reardon have been a team since they first met on a Harvard/Radcliff round-the-world singing tour in 1967. In addition to family, singing, and travel, they share a dedication to non-profits providing human services, hunger relief, conservation and the arts. Luckily for Wellspring, Kathy and Bill have been involved since the beginning.
When Diane Edson began to provide a place for folks facing challenges in the 1980s, she was also a member of the Broad Cove Chorale. Kathy and Bill sang with the group as well. Immediately interested in helping Diane with this charitable effort, Kathy volunteered by answering phones, cutting out little mittens for the Christmas tree and sorting donations. Kathy and Bill supported the purchase of the first building and Kathy joined the Board shortly after. Within a year, Kathy was asked to be Chair. At that time, she began working with the new Director, Vinny Harte.
In 1979, Kathy and Bill joined the Unicorn Singers, a renowned Chorale that performs throughout the year. The Singers in 2004 began a collaboration with Wellspring that endures to this day. Over the years, this partnership has resulted in 21 Christmas concerts and many generous donations to the Diane Edson Fund, Wellspring’s emergency relief fund.
At the 2024 holiday concert, the Cohasset Unitarian Church was packed to capacity. One concertgoer noted, “I was brought to tears by the beauty of the music. That emotion was amplified as I thought about those who are less fortunate being helped at Wellspring.”
When asked why she and Bill have been so active with Wellspring, Kathy said, “I’ve always been so impressed with the leadership and dedication of Wellspring’s staff, board, members, and donors. In its new location, Wellspring can continue to develop and share its comprehensive model. As it grows, we hope Wellspring will always keep its caring heart.”
Thank you, Kathy, Bill and family. And thank you Unicorn Singers for lending your talents and time to support worthy causes. You keep Wellspring on a high note!
