Paul Taylor
Paul Taylor retired in 2011 after 22 years at South Shore Hospital (SSH) as a Senior Vice President on the executive team that made SSH the regional leader. He founded and was a trustee of the SSH Foundation. More than $125 million was raised during his tenure. Paul was also responsible for governance, communications, marketing, public policy, as well as government and community relations. At various times, he also oversaw planning, quality, physician recruitment, volunteerism, and three gift shops.
Before joining SSH, Paul served in a similar position for 18 years at The Hospital of Saint Raphael (now Yale-New Haven Health) in his native Connecticut. Earlier, he was national public relations coordinator for Connecticut General Life Insurance (now Cigna) and Waterbury Hospital’s public relations director.
Following retirement, Paul began his formal involvement with Wellspring, including leading its Board of Directors and as a founding Trustee and officer of the Foundation For Wellspring. He also has served in many community leadership roles including as Chairman of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as a Trustee of the Harold Brooks Foundation, and as a gubernatorial appointee to the commission overseeing the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station. He is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with graduate studies at Syracuse University.
Paul is the author of numerous articles in publications of the American Hospital Association, Association of Fundraising Professionals, The Governance Institute, International Churchill Society, and Public Relations Society of America. He also is a book author and has been a popular public speaker and consultant to charities and other enterprises.
He and his spouse Margaret live in Hingham. They have three sons and four grandchildren.
