Paul Taylor

Paul Taylor has been a Hingham resident since 1991. He served as senior vice president at South Shore Hospital until his retirement in late 2012. He helped advance the hospital to regional prominence, including founding, leading and serving as a trustee of South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation for 22 years. Since retiring, he has become an author, consultant, and speaker about governing board best practices, and he counsels charities about philanthropy, governance and public relations. He also is pursuing lifelong interests in genealogy, history–especially the life of his distant relative, Winston Churchill, Boston sports and Martha’s Vineyard/Chappaquiddick island vacations. Paul was previously corporate vice president of The Hospital of Saint Raphael (now Yale-New Haven Medical Center) and President of its Institute for Better Health in New Haven, national public relations coordinator for Connecticut General Life Insurance (now CIGNA) and public relations director of Waterbury Hospital. Paul became a supporter of Wellspring as a Trustee of the Harold Brooks Foundation and then by involvement in Wellspring’s strategic planning process. He is past board chair the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, is a communicant of Hingham’s Church of the Resurrection and a member of the Churchill Centre, Cullum Society of the United States Military Academy, and the Public Relations Society of America and Association of Fund-Raising Professionals. Paul is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with post-graduate studies at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications. He and his spouse, Margaret, have three adult sons and three grandchildren.
